Fees

Scouting is a year-round program that remains one of the most valuable investments we can make to support young men and women today so they can become the leaders we will turn to tomorrow.

Fees

Scouting is $230/year.  Scouting fees are made up of three portions:  1) National, 2) Council and 3) Pack dues:

National Fees ($80/yr) registers the Scout with Boy Scouts of America.  The fees are applied to the cost of essential services, including program resources, liability insurance for those participating in approved Scouting activities, youth protection and other national-managed resources.  There is also a national one-time ($25) new joiner fee applied to process all new Scout applications.  This fee does not apply to Scout previously registered in Scouting or transferring from another unit.

Council Fees ($60/yr) support the operations of the Simon Kenton Council that includes local council events and programming, council staff and council properties (camps).

Pack Fees ($90/yr) are applied directly to the Pack events like Pinewood Derby and campouts, materials and rental fees for Pack events, badges/awards, equipment storage facility, leadership training, and other administrative fees.

National and Council Fees are paid on a yearly cycle based on the date the Scout joins Scouting. Pack fees align to the school year and are collected in Sept/Oct annually.  See the Fees Schedule to determine the amount due for your Scout.

Scout Life is the BSA offical magazine.  If your Scouts wishes to receive an annual subscription please include additional $15 in your National fees.

Fundraising

Although the Pack collects some fees, a majority of the Pack funding is obtained by participating in Fall popcorn sales.  This is our main fundraising project.  The more funds available to the Pack leadership the more amazing programs that can be provided for our Scouts.  Popcorn sales also offer sales incentives such as Scouting gear, reduced fees and camp credits.

Financial Assistance

Fees and expenses should not be a barrier for youth wanting to join Cub Scouting.  Pack 843 is willing to work with any family to establish a payment schedule for Pack fees and/or assist them with securing scholarship support from Simon Kenton Council.

More information on the financial assistance available from Simon Kenton Council is available at the below link.
